The deal would allow AOL to sell display and banner advertising to other Web sites using Google's ad serving technology, the source said.

For a whopping (uncountable) 1 Billion US green ones, I would not just display your banners, I would let you tattoo them all over my body. For crying out loud! One F-ing billion dollars - for a measly 5% stake in a doddering AOL! Who uses AOL anymore? I know of know one in my expanded circle who would admit to using AOL. AOL is dodo - got it? It's soooo 5 minutes ago. There is no way a 20% stake in it is worth 1 BILLION (gag!) US Dollars No way!

Well, unless, of course, you are talking funny money. You know, the kind of monopoly-ish money AOL used to acquire Time Warner.

If we are talking funny money, then maybe the new entity created by this Google investment will be call GAOL - which is where a lot of the folks involved in funny money transactions of the sort AOL had admitted to in the past belongs.
